Vice President Dr. Bawumia gave the keynote address at the opening ceremony for the ongoing Ghana Industrial Summit and Exhibition 2018 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The Government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is committed to the implementation of its industrialization plan, designed to transform the Ghanaian economy, and will, therefore, continue to offer similar incentives to local industries as those offered to foreign companies wishing to set up shop in Ghana.
Vice President Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed government’s agenda of initiating industry-tailored policies and programmes to be implemented with a view to ensuring that newly revived companies not only find their feet and contribute to national development but feed into the overall plan for increased value-addition to ensure greater earnings.
Parliament has passed a law to establish the Ghana Ghana Integrated Bauxite and Aluminum Development Corporation, in order to build a complete value chain for the mining, refining, and smelting of Ghana’s bauxite in order to ensure value addition.
Also, Akosombo Textiles Limited which had been shut down has been revived and started operating.
Vice President Dr. Bawumia concluded by saying, “We will continue to engage with our local industries to ensure they also receive the incentives and the necessary enabling environment for them to thrive”.
