In a 33-second video, an old man is seen rushing towards President Akufo-Addo‘s convoy as he shouts “Nana Nie” “Naa Sure” in a clearly complementary fashion with an elongated hand to attract a high five from the President.
The anonymous old man is met with a technical knockout by the security detail as he breaches protocol. The security detail pushed the hem of the old man’s neck with the palm of his hand, and immediately landed the old man on the ground, and was quickly helped by a police officer to get back on his feet to avoid being smashed by the President’s convoy.
Meanwhile, the action by the security detail has attracted mixed feelings on social media, as usual, the political debate is ongoing.
The controversial musician, Kwame Asare Obeng aka Kwame A-Plus added his voice to the brouhaha and wrote on his Facebook page that:
I feel sorry for him. You can clearly tell that even the other security personnel felt sorry for him as well. They lifted him up and said sorry. I hear he had the opportunity to greet the president properly later. I think he was over excited.
The fact is that what he did is a serious security violation. Sorry daddy, but please with all due respect, what you did is a no no!!! The President comes out of his car to you. You don’t rush from nowhere towards the president. Ebei!!!
